The man behind World Energy GH2 has a new clean energy venture.
John Risley is now involved in Clean Grid Atlantic, part of what’s known as the Eastern Energy Partnership, but what that means for work already started in and around the Port au Port Peninsula is not yet clear.
A Clean Grid Atlantic spokesperson says the project “is still in the early stages of development” with discussions ongoing with Ottawa and provincial governments, First Nations, utilities and others.
Risley told the Financial Post late last year that he hopes that “green” energy will prove a turning point for the Atlantic provinces through what’s known as the Eastern Energy Partnership.
Wind West Atlantic Energy is one of a number of projects named on the federal government’s Major Projects Office list of “Transformative Projects.” Ottawa and the province of Nova Scotia have already issued a call for bids for the first submerged land licences for offshore wind in Canada. The licences are expected to be issued later this year.
As for the status of Risley’s World Energy GH2 project, and whether it will play a part in Wind West Atlantic is not clear at this time.
