Newfoundland and Labrador has a total of 36 nominations for this year’s 38th annual East Coast Music Awards.

The list of nominees was announced this morning in Sydney, Nova Scotia.

Local artists nominated include Mallory Johnson with five, Kellie Loder with four, as well as The Irish Descendants and Rachel Cousins with three each.

On the industry side; The Ship Pub and Majestic Theatre are both up for Venue of the Year, while Hilda Cousins and Roger Lockyer are up for Artist Management.

VOCM’s Greg Smith was nominated in the Media Excellence Category.

ECMA Executive Director Bob Hallett says the theme of this year’s event is “the business of music.”

The East Coast Music Awards will be presented May 20th to 24th in Sydney, Cape Brenton.
