Sending our kids off to school should be innocent and routine, but this week, it is anything but.
Every person reacts differently to tragedy such as that which unfolded in Tumbler Ridge, B.C. on Tuesday, but a St. Joihn’s psychologist says it is important not to disrupt a child’s every-day movements. In other words, make sure they continue to go to school.
Janine Hubbard, President and Chair of the Canadian Psychological Association, told the Tim Powers Show on VOCM that families should be careful of their news consumption, and get their information from trusted and reliable sources.
“It’s important that they have the support from peers, classmates and teachers. Even though the instinct says to keep them home, it is better to process with friends and teachers,” says Hubbard.
