Memorial University is one of six such institutions to receive federal funding on a joint multi-year economic research project.
The 15-year, $6-million national research partnership will focus on improving productivity in Canada.
Economics professor Tony Fang hopes the project will look at meaningful change as he says improvement in that area is needed.
He says Canada is lagging in productivity.
“Our annual growth rate is 0.2 per cent whereas two decades ago it was 1.5 per cent,” says professor Fang.
He notes that productivity is a major determinant of living standard.
