The Finance Minister says his government has given “no thought” to the possibility of divesting itself of the NL Liquor Corporation.
Moya Greene’s ‘Big Reset’ report, released in 2021, made a number of bold recommendations to help the province get back on solid fiscal ground.
Among them was the divestiture of a number of government assets, including Marble Mountain and the NLC.
Despite numerous attempts to attract interest from the private sector in the operation of Marble Mountain, as of last fall, there were no takers.
In the meantime, Minister Craig Pardy says selling off NLC is not something they’re considering.
He calls NLC’s dividends – a little over $200 million this past year – a “valuable component” of the government’s revenue stream. “We’ve given no thought to selling off the NLC.”
