The Canadian Taxpayers Federation is calling on Prime Minister Mark Carney to shrink the federal bureaucracy in light of a recent report showing that costs continue to rise.
The Parliamentary Budget Officer’s report shows that total spending on federal government personnel rose to $76.3 billion in 2024-25. That’s up from nearly $72-billion – or 6 per cent – over the previous year.
The Parliamentary Budget Officer’s numbers show that salaries, have gone up steadily since 2017, while sop-called “one-time” payments are also rising.
Franco Terrazzano of the Canadian Taypayers Association says total compensation per full-time federal employee reached $143,271 last year.
