While plenty of pubs will be pouring pints this St. Patrick’s season, VOCM and the Newfoundland Embassy are once again hoping to fill the pub with something even more important — food for those in need.
The Community Food Sharing Association says food bank use increased 8.3 per cent in 2025 and is up 44.1 per cent since 2019.
Non-perishable food items are being accepted at the Newfoundland Embassy in downtown St. John’s through VOCM’s Pack the Pub in support of the Community Food Sharing Association.
Donations can be dropped off from now until Sunday March 14th.
Embassy co-owner Niall Hickey says giving back to the community has been part of their business model since opening, and they see the impact of food insecurity every day.
VOCM will broadcast live on site on March 14th. Monetary donations can be made through vocmcares.com or in person during the live broadcast.
