Newfoundland and Labrador is still waiting on a response from Ottawa on not yet being included in a national pharmacare program.
Premier Tony Wakeham wrote the Prime Minister earlier this month raising concerns about Ottawa’s “fractured approach” to pharmacare.
The premier says he has yet to receive an update.
“We’re still waiting,” says Wakeham. “We’ve written the Prime Minister on that, and as I said, what we have now is a two-tiered system. We’ve got a number of provinces who have signed on, were able to sign on, and then the program was stopped by the federal government. So there are a number of provinces who have been left out. I don’t understand why we didn’t sign on when we had the opportunity, but it’s something I will continue to pursue.”
