We’re one week into tax season but one of the key deadlines is already upon us.

Anyone wishing to reduce their taxable income by contributing to one of the investment vehicles, such as an RRSP, has until the end of day today to do so.

For some, just meeting the day-to-day expenses is fraught with challenges, much less putting some in the cookie jar.

For those with a straightforward tax return and who have a ,modest income, the Canada Revenue Agency may be able to help you with your return and save you a few dollars.

The CRA offers a free service to some people. One of the team leaders at the CRA in St. John’s, Melanie Kavanagh, says anyone interested in the service can check out all the options through the website.
