The House of Assembly paid tribute yesterday to Brad Gushue’s illustrious curling career.
The two-time Olympic medalist also has a world curling championship, six Briers and fifteen Grand Slam title wins under his belt.
Gushue, who started curling at the age of 13, has wowed and inspired local audiences and athletes for the last three decades.
His lengthy sporting career is now behind him, having formally retired after last week’s Brier in St. John’s.
Minister of Sport Andrea Barbour says while Gushue didn’t get the seventh Brier championship he was seeking, the St. John’s event was a “heartfelt celebration” of what he’s achieved.
The MHA for Waterford Valley, Jamie Korab, was part of Gushue’s gold-medal winning rink in Torino, Italy in 2006.
“Brad’s success was never accidental. They were the result of unwavering dedication, unmatched hard-work ethic, and a deep love for sport – qualities I got to experience first-hand.”
