The Minister responsible for Indigenous Affairs and the Department of Health has met with First Light – a group that represents the needs of urban Indigenous residents of Newfoundland and Labrador.
First Light recently released a report on access to health care and is advocating for an Indigenous clinic to meet the needs of the community in the metro region.
Minister Lela Evans calls the organization’s proposal a good one.
She says it is a good plan, but government needs to take into consideration whether or not that will result in competition for health care resources, and the potential duplication of services.
