The provincial government is not formally considering whether to join British Columbia’s lead in establishing Daylight Saving Time year-round.
The member for Mount Pearl North, Lucy Stoyles, presented a petition in the House of Assembly calling on the provincial government to adopt Daylight Saving Time on a permanent basis.
The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Chris Tibbs, says it’s not something the province is considering at this time.
“I have received quite a lot of correspondence about this recently,” Tibbs told the House, “especially since B.C. has taken it on. We aren’t having official conversations about it right now, but it is something I’ll take back to departmental staff.”
