A busy walk-in clinic has closed in the capital city, leaving many patients wondering where to go.
A notice posted on Dr. Eric Elli’s walk-in Clinic at the Blackmarch Road Dominion indicates that the clinic is indefinitely closed and that the doctor apologizes for the abrupt notification.
Dr. Elli will not be able to access requisitioned lab work or diagnostic tests, and he’s urging patients to contact NL Health Services or attend a walk-in clinic to get the results.
Patients are being urged to register with Patient Connect, and in the case of an emergency, proceed to the nearest emergency room, or Urgent Care Clinic.
Dr. Elli has a long history with the College of Physicians and Surgeons. In 2025, he pleaded guilty to charges of professional misconduct and incompetence and is currently listed as being “restricted from patient care.”
Health Minister Lela Evans provided little additional detail on why he has been restricted.
“From what I hear is that anything, any steps and any measures that the college would take would be to make sure they’re protecting patient safety and also just the service. We have to have a certain level of service,” she told reporters.
Dr. Elli noted in the letter that he hopes to return to patient practice, but did not provide a timeline.
