The health minister says she’s looking at moving some family care teams after discovering serious gaps in some areas and duplication in others.
Lela Evans says she’s even discovered that in some cases, staff are being poached from one area to work in another.
She describes it like “robbing Peter to pay Paul.”
As an example, Evans says no money was set aside to recruit new family care staff at the clinic in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
“I was very disappointed to learn that some of these family care teams were put into regions where there were already existing supports, where doctors were working together with occupational therapists and other health care professionals, and the family care team was set up independently of that,” she told reporters.
“(There) was a problem with duplication and also poaching resources.”
