The federal government is not going to change much regarding the management plan for the lobster fishery this year.

Current management measures now in place will remain so for the 2026 fishing season. There are no changes to trap limits or the maximum number of fishing days.

DFO will consult with the industry on the dates, but the season usually runs from mid-April to mid-July.

Most of the harvesting is done on the south and west coasts with Fortune Bay accounting for the majority of the catch.
