A winter storm warning started the week, and it will end with a deluge of rain for the Avalon and south coast.
Rainfall and wind warnings are out for those areas beginning tonight and going into tomorrow.
Environment Canada meteorologist Erica Price says there will be some light snow to start, but that will quickly change to rain overnight.
She says temperatures will rise to abut 8 degrees. In terms of rainfall totals, most of the Avalon will see about 40 mm, while the southern Avalon will see close to 70 mm. Also, winds will be strong with gusts up to 80 km/h for most, and about 100 km/h in coastal areas.
The Burin Peninsula will be drenched with about 70 mm as well, with up to 35 mm possible in areas further west.
Meanwhile, there is a messy mix of weather on the way for central and the west coast.
Price says things will start out as snow overnight, then that snow will mix with rain. On the west coast that will eventually change back to snow, and in central it will change over to rain.
