Labrador’s only opposition member says she will vote with government on extending the Medical Transportation Assistance Program to 100 per cent coverage.
Lisa Dempster says she has been inundated with “many sad stories” from constituents who must travel to access specialized medical services.
Dempster says she still has plenty of questions about how the provincial government will fully cover expenses up-front.
“Is this going to include your escort? Is it going to include orthodontists? Is it going to include the people who are out of province waiting for transplant?” She says those are the questions she’s getting and she’ll be going over any plan with a “fine tooth comb.”
That said, Dempster is willing to support the program if it benefits her constituents.
“If he announces this program, as he’s saying 100 per cent all-in, I will support that.”
