Upgrades to the cardiac cath lab at the Health Sciences are already paying dividends for patient waitlists, according to one official with the health authority.
Both NLHS and the Healthcare Foundation celebrated the conclusion of the project last week, which included the modernization of technology being used, a new radial lounge recovery space and a fourth lab.
Dr. Fred Paulin, interim clinical chief of the provincial cardiovascular and stroke program, says having that fourth lab and recovery space represents a “substantial increase in capacity.”
He says their waitlist for dye tests has gone from 600 to 400 since operationalizing the new space.
