Newfoundland not-for-profit Island Furniture has received a $25,000 grant from Purolator.
The money is being given to the business through the True North Small Business Grant Contests.
The social enterprise has been operating in the province for over 40 years, with all money made being put back into the community, including through creating employment and training opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities.
Jerry Senior, the CEO of Island Furniture, says they plan to use the money to expand awareness of what they do.
He says the organization has been doing their work “silently” over the last four decades, so they want to bring awareness and support for the work they are doing. He says they will be doing more advertising to that end.
