Premier Tony Wakeham provided an update on his recent attendance at CERAWeek in Houston last week.
Wakeham and Energy Minister Lloyd Parrott participated in what is widely believed to be one of the world’s largest oil and gas conferences.
The premier told the House of Assembly that Newfoundland and Labrador is “back” in the oil and gas business now that a benefits agreement has been reached with Equinor on the Bay du Nord project.
“This is about more than one conference, it was an opportunity, once again, to tell the world we are back in the oil and gas business. It was about building relationships, attracting investment and ensuring our resources create jobs and long-term economic development.”
Speaking on getting back into the oil and gas business, Opposition energy critic Fred Hutton said “the reality is; we never left.”
