Opposition leader John Hogan pressed finance minister Craig Pardy over affordability issues in the House of Assembly on Wednesday.
Yesterday the price of gas throughout the province exceeded $2 per litre for the first time since 2022.
The initial line of questioning was around further reductions to the gas tax, and Pardy fired back that while Hogan is focused on one thing government can do, there are many “levers” they can pull in terms of affordability for residents.
Hogan argues that the PCs have been in government for six months and “not one lever has been pulled,” and asks Pardy to take the necessary action now.
Pardy fired back by saying “we know where the levers are. They (the Liberals) don’t know where the levers are, and in 10 years of government I can tell from the budget and the deficit that they certainly didn’t know where the levels are.”
Pardy ended his comments by referencing the upcoming provincial budget, saying residents will be pleased with the affordability measures contained within.
