Negotiations on the price of crab have hit yet another roadblock, with the FFAW saying it will not process crab in this province until it gets what it calls a “fair” price.
The FFAW and ASP have been negotiating the price of crab for some time, with the union saying the latest offer from producers came in at $5.22 a pound, three cents lower than last year.
In a social media post, the FFAW said it “will not allow ASP to continue dictating a price that has no basis in reality.”
The union called off its protest on Monday at Confederation Building after meeting with the provincial government, but President Dwan Street says the province “has not delivered the meaningful reform the industry needs” in the negotiation process.
