U.S. President Donald is threatening that the United States can “take out” the entire country of Iran in “one night,” and that night might be tomorrow.
Trump made the threat as an aside while provided an update on a mission to rescue an injured American pilot shot down over Iran.
“We’re doing unbelievably well” said Trump of Operation Epic Fury, the American military campaign against Iran. “Well at a level that nobody’s ever seen before. The entire country can be taken out in one night, and that night might be tomorrow.”
The president claimed it took 200 military personnel to rescue one pilot, who, despite his injuries, had managed to climb into the mountains to safety.
He says the injured pilot was able to transmit his location to American forces.
He says a big part of the mission involved subterfuge so as not to tip off Iranian authorities to the search effort.
Trump says the deadline set to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by Tuesday evening is “final” while Iran has warned of “devastating” retaliation.
