MUN President Janet Morrison has been directed by the Board of Regents to review the university’s academic and administrative structure.
Morrison says she’s looking at a “consultative and engaged” process to critically review all administrative spending, and to respond to changes in enrollment affecting the university.
“Memorial is evolving,” says Morrison, “not by our choosing or by design, but we are getting smaller as a consequence of how many students are graduating in the province, and changes to federal immigration policy. As a result, we need to think about the appropriate academic structure to support where we are now and where we anticipate being going forward.”
Morrison says that review will result in recommendations that will be delivered to the board in February of next year.
