A happy ending to a search for two young people in central Newfoundland.

The teens, ages 16 and 17, were reported missing after failing to return home after heading out on ATV yesterday afternoon.

Added concern set in when officials were unable to contact the teens via cell phone.

RCMP say the pair have since been found, safe and sound.

They thank Exploits Search and Rescue for their help in locating the teens, and the public for their support.

RCMP in Grand Falls-Windsor need the public’s help in their search for two teenagers who went out for an ATV ride yesterday and failed to return home.

The 17-year-old and 16-year-old left the area on quad around 2:45 yesterday afternoon.

There has been no sign of their whereabouts as police have been unable to reach either teen via cellphone.

The quad is an orange 2018 Can Am Outlander with NL licence plate number VGZ 276. The two are known to frequent the areas of Main Street West and New Bay Road.

RCMP Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says anyone who would like to help with the search should get in touch with authorities instead of heading out on their own accord.

O’Donaghey says there are risks to people heading out into these areas without guidance from the RCMP or Search and Rescue and they want to avoid any situations where people may run into trouble.
