Titans of Newfoundland and Labrador’s business community were inducted into the Junior Achievement Hall of Fame last night.
The event took place in front of a jam-packed room at a the JAG Soundhouse in St. John’s.
The first inductee to take the stage was Brian Chafe, the current CEO of De Havilland and former CEO of PAL Aerospace.
Next, mother-son duo Regina McCarthy – founder of McCarthy’s Party, and her son and current president of the company Mark McCarthy were inducted.
The final inductees were Long Play Capital CEO and concert promoter John Steele, and his mother, entrepreneur Catherine Steele, who received the honour posthumously.
John Steele is the former owner of Steele Communications – which was the parent company of VOCM and its sister stations for many years.
Steele spoke about the importance of all of the people that have worked for him and helped him along the way.
“This induction involves, literally, thousands of people. Nobody, nobody, is self made.”
