Over 40 students are heading to Toronto today to represent Newfoundland and Labrador at the Skills Canada National Competition.

Team NL 2026 features 17 high school students and 25 college students and apprentices.

They will be competing in 33 categories across six different skill sectors, those being construction, manufacturing and engineering, transportation, information and technology, services and employment.

The event takes place Thursday and Friday.

The federal government has given funding to Skills Canada NL to help pay for the trip.

Over 500 participants are expected in total from across the country.
