A St. John’s organization is working to build a new space for people with intellectual disabilities on the Avalon Peninsula.
L’Arche Avalon is currently raising funds to construct two homes that will focus on community integration between workers and people with intellectual disabilities.
Michel Genest says they’re collecting donations and hope to break ground on the project by late 2027.
“It’s really exciting because that means that people will not be put into a place where services are given to them but they’re not really integrated with the community at large. So it’s a positive.” he told VOCM News.
