The East Coast Trail Association has a tall order ahead of them to clear up the paths after a season of intense winter weather.
The VP of marketing and communications, Andrew Murphy, calls the association’s recent TrailRaiser campaign, which raised nearly $220,000, their “nest egg” to get the work done.
One of the most significant pieces of work they have ahead of them this year, according to Murphy, is the removal of over 2,500 trees that blew down across paths over the winter.
He likens it to municipal snow clearing budgets in that they can set aside so much money for it, but how much actually needs to be done is out of their control.
Murphy says the work will continue for another few weeks.
