A new childcare centre is being set up in Corner Brook.
The provincial government is providing $665,000 through its Operating Grant Program for the centre, which will be located in the Marina Redmond Centre on MUN’s Grenfell Campus.
Government says the money will be used to provide $10-a-day daycare for up to 30 kids.
Another $92,000 is being provided to buy equipment and supplies for the centre.
Education Minister Paul Dinn indicates that they want to “start announcing more and more of these daycares.”
He says there are a number of centres that are “in progress” and he hopes they will be open this year.
That is in terms of establishing new daycares beyond the ones currently working their way through the system, Dinn is hopeful more people will come forward.
He says they will continue to encourage more people to apply.
