Marine Atlantic is adding six additional crossings to its Argentia run this year.
Officials gathered at the Argentia terminal yesterday as Ottawa announced some $270-million in upgrades to marine infrastructure.
Colin Tibbo, who is the VP of Service and Innovation with the corporation, says the Argentia service is growing in popularity.
Tibbo says he was asked a few weeks ago while giving a presentation to the town of Placentia and the chamber of commerce if it would be possible to extend the Argentia run later into the year.
At the time, he said he wasn’t sure, but that answer has changed.
He says the service is being extended until October 3rd, giving commuters six more crossings to choose from.
