Central Newfoundland is awash in grief after a teenager lost his life at a popular swimming hole Thursday afternoon.

RCMP say the Exploits Valley Search and Rescue were able to locate the young man, and bring him to shore. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tributes are pouring in for Alex Dawe, a player with the Bishops Falls Minor Hockey Association. The association says no words can ease this unimaginable loss.

Saying that number 3 will always be remembered on and off the ice, they’re asking people to put a hockey stick out in support of his family.

Central Newfoundland has seen a series of tragic events over the past while, including a fatal car crash near Bull Arm and deadly shootings.
