Crews are making significant headway on the grounded Baltic III, with only four containers remaining on board.
The vessel ran aground almost 18 months ago in a storm that sent the massive cargo ship into the rocks near Cedar Cove.
So far, 468 containers have been removed from the ship, and the Canadian Coast Guard says removing the remaining ones is a “priority” going forward.
The salvage company is now preparing to install chains and chain pullers to move the vessel out of the water. Significant work has been done on land to clear a route for the ship, which will be taken to a scrapyard.
Photos of the ship from earlier this week show a massive crack along the side, with a portion of the boat drooping in the water.
