For a long while it looked like a pending display at The Rooms in St. John’s on an iconic musician would be minus a key number.
But then, like something out of a dream, the black leather jacket that Ron Hynes often wore at his gigs turned up.
Nephew Joel Thomas Hynes had been reaching out publicly for a few years, hoping that someone would either have it or have an idea where to look.
Then, just hours before the Ron Hynes Exhibit was to open at The Rooms, Joel got the call he had been waiting for.
The singer spent a lot of time at the Delta in St. John’s in his final years while undergoing treatment for cancer. Last Wednesday, Joel got the call from a manager at the hotel, two days before the exhibit was to open.
“They had found it in some storage area with some other items of clothing which belonged to Ron. They had looked for it several times prior but hadn’t found it until then,” Hynes told VOCM Open Line with Brian Callahan.
