The provincial government has four more traffic cameras on order to address speeding on the highways.
Some of the traffic cams set up on the Veteran’s Memorial were recently moved to the construction site on the TCH at the Foxtrap Access Road to address safety concerns in that area.

Transportation Minister Barry Petten says that solution is working well and traffic is moving fairly well through the area as a result.
In the meantime, Petten says four more traffic cams are on order for the Veteran’s Memorial, and he expects the other cameras will be moved around to construction sites as needed.
“The rule of thumb was (that) these speed cameras were initially for construction sites,” says Petten. “We’re planning on using them more regularly in construction zones, so we will have the ability to move (those) cameras around. So we need more permanent cameras in place, which is what these new ones that are being ordered will do, and hopefully we’ll have the flexibility then to move the other cameras around as need be.”
