About 400 Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are among the 6,300 people across Canada who have secured meaningful employment through Inclusion Canada.

The organization runs a Ready, Willing and Able program connecting employers with people with intellectual disabilities and autism who are eager and willing to work.

Inclusion Canada says as employers search for talent, the country is overlooking workers who can help fill those labour gaps.

Frank Fagan of Inclusion Canada says the country has an enormous and untapped pool of job seekers.

He says there are half a million Canadians with autism or an intellectual disability who are looking for work. “They run the gamut of everything from folks looking for their first-time job at McDonald’s, up to lawyers looking to start their own practice.”

Employers interested in participating in Ready, Willing and Able are encouraged to reach out to Inclusion Canada.
