The new emergency room at the Health Sciences is officially open to patients.

The new ER is three times the size of the old one and consists of several different waiting areas to keep people moving and speed up access.

Those presenting to emerge today onward will be directed to the new entrance which is adjacent to the main doors at HSC.

Signage will be in place to direct people.

There is no direct access to the old section of the hospital near the Tim Hortons for about a year while renovations are underway.
