SportNL has some big plans for its funding this year from the provincial government.
Yesterday, the province announced $1.2-million for the organization, which executive director Troy Croft says is their usual allotment with “a little bit of a top-up.”
SportNL is the umbrella agency of all the sport governing bodies in the province.
He says that deals with maltreatment in sport, noting that they have set up a third-party reporting mechanism for anyone that experiences such treatment.
Croft says they’ll also be focusing on other areas like opportunities for woman and girls in sports, and availing of more parasport funding.
