They’ll be flipping burgers at A&W today with a purpose – it is “Beat MS Day” at their restaurants in Atlantic Canada.
Preet Pander, who is President and CEO of the ten locations in the Atlantic Provinces, says they have embraced MS as their cause for nearly the past twenty years, raising millions over the course.
A portion of the proceeds goes to the MS Society for research and programs.
“Two dollars from every teen burger sold today but also four weeks ago we asked customers to donate the change from their purchase, so typically we raise about $5,000 per location to the society,” says Pander.)
This year, a player in the women’s hockey league, Kristen Campbell, has endorsed the cause. Her mother had the disease.
“She’s also on the society’s board so she’s very knowledgeable about MS,” says Pander.
