The museum in Logy Bay – Middle Cove – Outer Cove is hosting a free genealogy workshop for those interested in digging into their family roots.

Local historian and genealogist Laurie Roche Lawrence is presenting the workshop tomorrow from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

She became interested in her own family history while trying to figure out her own roots in Middle Cove.

“There’s a lot of families in our town with the same last names, and I guess I was interested if we were connected somehow. My dad always said we weren’t, so I kind of dug into it…to figure out if we were.”

She says tracing your family tree starts with what you know, and tracing the records then helps fill in the blanks. In her case, she learned how the various branches of the Roches were connected.
