Ontario Premier Doug Ford is pulling no punches when it comes to tariff threats and personal jabs from U.S. President Donald Trump.
The U.S. imposed 50 per cent tariffs on various Canadian goods after trade talks were called off last week. Now, Trump is threatening to put further tariffs on the auto and steel sectors.
In a post to Truth Social, Trump referred to PM Mark Carney as ‘governor’ and called Ford his ‘flunky’.
The Ontario Premier was blunt in his response.
“I’ve been in this game longer than he has, I got skin on me like an alligator,” said Ford. “You think an insult from him hurts me? Well bring it on, buddy. I’m ready.”
“You know something? I’ve dealt with guys like you my whole life and guess what? Y’all become losers because you’re a loser.”
Just hours before that during a phone interview on a local radio station, Ford said the U.S. President could “kiss his ass”.
“We need to throw everything in the kitchen sink at him,” he said. “He’s arrogant, he’s cocky…”
