The Baie Verte Peninsula is mourning after two tragedies in one day.
Area MHA Lin Paddock says the area suffered the loss of two people yesterday – one in a house fire in Rattling Brook, the other while fishing in Westport.
In a post to Facebook, Paddock says the fish harvester ran into trouble with a load of squid near his home wharf.
It is the second fishing tragedy in the area this summer – two men died last month after their vessel capsized near the small community of Harbour Round.
Paddock sends his condolences to the families and friends of those lost in yesterday’s incidents.
