Marine Atlantic was expecting this to be a busy summer for traffic on its crossings, and they say the season has lived up to the hype.
The VP of service and innovation, Colin Tibbo, says they were seeing bookings come in as early as January.
Tibbo says, in some ways, it has been a “record breaking” season for Marine Atlantic.
He says the summer season usually accounts for 60 per cent of their passenger traffic, and 40 per cent of commercial traffic. He says traffic on the gulf is up four per cent year-over-year, and for Argentia it is up eight per cent. It is shaping up to be the busiest year in Argentia’s history.
