The chair of the Public Accounts Committee says she plans to call an “expedited” public hearing into the Auditor General’s recent report on government-run long-term care facilities.
Last week’s AG audit found that the provincial government failed to provide sufficient care and oversight for residents living in the facilities it operates.

Mount Scio MHA Sarah Stoodley says the committee plans to bring several key areas of concern directly to NL Health Services.
She says they expect “immediate” action and response on some of the report’s more critical findings.
“Already, the committee has been talking about some areas that we will be communicating to NLHS and expect immediate response and action on – for example, the vulnerable sector checks and the criminal record checks,” she told reporters this week.
“Medicine management and fire and life safety, for example, were some of the issues that we’ve already talked about that we will be communicating to NLHS that we do expect immediate resolution on. And we are going to be looking at an expedited hearing.”
