Extensive searches were conducted at Cape Spear on the weekend after officials received a report of possible people in the water around 10:00 Friday night.
RNC, the Canadian Coast Guard, Rovers Ground Search and Rescue and the St. John’s Regional Fire Department responded, and conducted land, water and drone searches of the area.
Officials were back on the scene on Saturday, along with the RNC’s Marine Unit for additional searches but nothing was found.
It’s not believed that there was anyone in the water and the searches have concluded.
