The Premier says there is no doubt in his mind that the hydro deal will pass through the House of Assembly tonight.
Tony Wakeham says the PC Caucus is united in support of the agreement between Quebec and Newfoundland and Labrador.
He says the current version is better than the scrapped 2024 deal in every way.

“We have the Prime Minister of Canada who has a plan to build Canada strong through the electrification of the country and we have some politicians here want to walk away from that? It’s just politics,” says Wakeham.
Liberal Leader John Hogan agrees on one count – the current deal gives price certainty. But so does the 1969 agreement at 0.2 cents KWH. He would have preferred to see prices based on market conditions.

“The other frustrating thing is that we get two different stories on why we gave away market-based pricing,” says Hogan.
The negotiating team said the formula was too complex so they walked away it but the oversight committee said it was part of the negotiations. So that, to me, is troubling.”
NDP Leader Jim Dinn says he will be voting against it.
“In the end, government has a majority whether they vote now or at another time, the deal will go through,” he says.
