If you haven’t already, now would be the time to put away any patio furniture or other items on your property or else risk them going airborne during hurricane-force winds this weekend.
An intense low pressure system is expected to intensify as it moves across the island late tonight and early tomorrow morning.
Environment Canada has issued wind warnings for parts of the island with gusts of over 100 km/h possible on the Avalon and Bonavista Peninsulas and into parts of central.
Gusts on the northeast Avalon are not enough to trigger a warning, however a special weather statement remains in effect.

Meteorologist Justin Boudreau says winds will pick up overnight with peak gusts expected tomorrow afternoon.
He recommends taking stuff like plastic lawn chairs inside. If you have a trampoline, either take it down or weigh it down.
There will be some rain along with the high winds.
He says most areas will see anywhere from 10 to 25 mm except for the Northern Peninsula which could see upwards of 50 mm starting tonight.
