A collision on the west coast Friday afternoon claimed the life of one person.

The fiery collision, which involved a transport truck and a sedan on the TCH near Logger School Road in Corner Brook, happened around 1:00.

The only passenger in the car, a 62-year-old woman from Ontario, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two drivers were assessed by paramedics at the crash site for injuries that were determined not to be life threatening.

The crash resulted in a lengthy road closure as officials attended to the scene.
