Bikers and drivers participated in a drive past Ascension Collegiate in Bay Roberts yesterday in support of a student who was assaulted in a video that was shared on social media.
Two students have been charged in connection with the incident, and RCMP say more charges are possible as the investigation continues.
Traffic honked their horns and revved their engines as they passed by the school yesterday afternoon.

Saying classes have too many students, she’s calling on government to find solutions to address violence in the province’s schools.
“Everybody deserves to work, grow, play and learn in an environment where they’re respected, where they’re included, and where they can thrive.”

The president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association says the violent assault recently shared on social media is just one of an average of 23 incidents happening every day.
Dale Lambe says violent incidents are becoming more prevalent within the school system, and teachers and principals are increasingly having to rely on police intervention.
“Overall, the trend would be in our communities to see an increase in, you know, our RCMP or RNC involvement. They’re the forces that are equipped to handle the situations and to know what the repercussions should be for these situations,” he told VOCM news.
