The opposition critic for Transportation and Infrastructure is accusing the provincial government of wasting money in seeking an RFP for the modernization and expansion of St. Clare’s Hospital.
The former Liberal government had a Facilities Condition Index completed four years ago by Capital Management which recommended that no more money be pumped into upgrading the building.
Minister Barry Petten dismissed that report as a political document, and says replacing the hospital is unlikely.
Critic Jamie Korab accuses government of failing to plan for the region’s health care needs.
“That Facility Condition Index is already out there saying ‘do not put any money into this; it’s time to build a new one.’ I feel like we’re throwing good money after bad here.”
